Our History

St Wilfrid’s became an Academy on 1st July 2011, building on its strong foundations as a successful voluntary aided Church of England school. The Trust’s governance structure reflects this heritage while supporting the additional responsibilities of academy status.

The Trust Board provides strategic leadership and oversight for St Wilfrid’s CE Academy Trust. Trustees are responsible for setting the Trust’s vision and direction, overseeing financial performance, approving key policies, and ensuring high standards of education and governance.

Day-to-day leadership and operational management are delegated to the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, who are responsible for implementing the Trust’s strategic priorities and delivering excellent outcomes for students.

To support effective governance, the Trust Board operates through a number of specialist committees that consider areas such as standards, welfare, finance, resources, audit, risk, and remuneration.
